‘Glover’ follows the nocturnal travels of a glovemaker whose journey to the edge of the world is prompted by the arrival of a mysterious map. In Gloveland, Glover encounters a carnival parade of extraordinary creatures, part glove, part human, part animal. After a fierce battle with a ferocious glovebeast Glover overcomes and kills the creature gaining the glove skin as a trophy.
Glover was developed during Jo Lawrence’s digital media residency at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2008. Glover’s story was inspired by the fusion of two items from the V&A’s vast collection – The Ebstorf map (1300) and a pair of ornate leather and satin gloves (1600)
